India is the name Didymos has given to this pattern of alternating peacocks and elephants (a bit hard to tell since this one is dyed). This one is “natural”, meaning the threads are still in their naturally-colored state without being dyed. This one is “hemp” meaning a blend of hemp and cotton fibers. Natural Hemp India is commonly abbreviated NHIndia, and is different than NHI – Natural Hemp Indio – an entirely different pattern and wrap also made by Didymos.

This particular wrap was purchased in its original creamy beige color by a prior owner, then dyed a solid aqua blue.

Hemp fibers tend to be warmer than cotton or linen fibers. They have a natural “bounce” which is cushy feeling on the shoulders. That bounce and cush, combined with the thickness of this wrap, made it one of the most comfortable I’ve tried.

This is the thickest, warmest wrap I’ve owned thus far.  It was delightfully cozy on fall or winter walks down our street. The thickness made it difficult to knot, and it also wrapped a bit short. This size three I am wearing in a Kangaroo carry, and can barely tie the knot.

I could not wear this in a Texas summer, because of the warmth of the hemp, thickness, and density of the weave.

It was very comfortable in a single-layer carry, even in a simple ruck. Incredibly “toddler-worthy” and usable for a newborn, although I might choose something thinner for a newborn, as to not overwhelm their tiny body with fabric.

I’ve owned NHIndia in several forms now, from woven wrap to ring sling to wrap conversion mei tai. If I lived in a colder climate, it would likely be my favorite wrap in existence.
