The Indio is one of Didymos (or Didy)’s most classic patterns. It has stood the test of time, being one of the first patterns they produced, and still in production today.

The Indio is just the pattern however.  Indio wraps come in many combinations of natural fibers, including linen, cotton, hemp, silk, and wool.  They also come in a plethora of colors.  Choose your favorite color combination, and most likely there is an Indio to match. It is one of my very favorite patterns I have tried.  It is classic and simple and beautiful.

COLOR

The color is of North Shore Indio is navy blue with white. The fibers have such a noticeable shimmer to them, especially since I purchased this brand new. It was hard to capture the hue, but it did not have a purple or teal hue – it was a lovely navy blue. Didymos cotton dark blue and white Indio was one of my first wraps that I truly loved. I wished for a hemp version for a few years, then North Shore was released!

VERSION

Didymos released an initial batch exclusive to Birdie’s Room (of which this is one), then later released a second batch sold by several retailers. I purchased a size 7, and had it converted (cut and re-sewn) into a size 3 woven wrap, and a medium length ring sling.

FABRIC

The characteristics of hemp tend to be: a bit warmer to wear, a bit of bounce, strength and support without dig, smoother and less grippy than linen. Since this Indio is rather thin, it wasn’t hot to wear, compared to a thick hemp wrap. It is medium thickness as Didymos Indios go, but almost all Indios are on the thinner side of woven wraps across brands. It was lovely for a newborn, and would have nicely supported a toddler in a multi-layer carry.
